My grandmother Gladys Cooke was someone I was very close to for many years. From my years with her as a little girl, to spending time with her later in life, I feel very lucky to have been a part of her 87 years.
I will miss listening to Ella Fitzgerald with her ( I bought her a little CD player), and hearing her stories about when she saw all of those great performers live back in the day. I will cherish the stories she told me about her life, and will always admire her for all of her words of wisdom over the years.
She was one of my biggest cheerleaders, and I will miss her more than I could ever express in words. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family, and in my heart I know she is in a better place...and with Grandpa whom she missed very much.
Thanks so much for the kind words and support...And thanks for sharing your memories.
Love,
Gina

Mr. & Mrs. Cooke always showed love and respect, not only to one another but to me and my longtime partner, Michael Bourke. At worship services at Unity Church, they treated us with the same dignity they showed to other couples at the church, and in fact when we came to Unity we always looked for them first. We would joke together, especially about Gina (lovingly) and exchange compliments because they were always a a dapper pair. I can't separate my wonderful memories of Unity Church from Mr. & Mrs. Cooke. My life, our community and our world is a better place because Mrs. Cooke was here.
